Based on the award-winning Broadway musical and the smash hit motion picture, Legally Blonde The Musical JR is a fabulously fun journey of self-empowerment and expanding horizons. The show's instantly recognizable songs are filled with humor, wit and sass — leaving cast members and audiences alike seeing pink!
Legally Blonde JR. follows the transformation of Elle Woods as she tackles stereotypes, snobbery and scandal in pursuit of her dreams. When Elle's boyfriend, Warner, dumps her and heads to Harvard, claiming she's not "serious" enough, Elle takes matters into her own hands, crafting a showy song-and-dance personal essay and charming her way into law school. Befriending classmate, Emmett, and spunky hairdresser, Paulette, along the way, Elle finds that books and looks aren't mutually exclusive. As Elle begins outsmarting her peers, she realizes that law may be her natural calling after all.
Principal Cast:
All registered students will be cast in this production. Prior theatre experience is not required!
Individual auditions for new and returning students will be held July 10th and 11th and group auditions will be held July 12th. Students who are unable to attend in-person auditions will be asked to submit a video audition. No matter what role they play in this production, all students will have a great time in this intense, jam-packed, two-week theatre camp experience! Sign up early, as space is limited!
Parent Volunteer Hours:
Families are required to volunteer at least 8 hours for this production or to buy out the required volunteer hours at $15 per hour. Volunteer opportunities include helping make costumes, set painting, set building, costume or prop shopping, providing supervision at dress rehearsals and performances, ushering at performances, etc.
Show tickets: $15 available online beginning July 18th
Audition Information: Individual audition appointments will open for scheduling to all registered cast members in May. Students will be asked to prepare a one-minute monologue of their choice and a vocal audition consisting of a specific song from Legally Blonde JR based on the character for which they would like to be considered. More information about song choices as well as official Legally Blonde JR music tracks will be provided for vocal auditions by UCYT in May.
