MATINEE
Important Update Following:
Upstart Crow will provide child care through March 19th. We will not provide any child care or camps the week of Spring Break nor continue the Matinee program after Spring Break. For more on-site theatre experiences, please check out our Summer Theatre Camps here.
Upstart Crow is an an Approved Emergency Childcare Provider with the State of Oregon and follows the Health and Safety Guidelines for Child Care and Early Education Operating during Covid-19.

Matinee is a daytime, on-site learning environment for students, grades 1-5. Every morning, students participate in their remote classes or complete homework at their own desk, supervised and supported by Upstart Crow staff, with strict and consistent adherence to physical distancing and safety guidelines. We provide a stable internet connection with capacity for many users, so Zoom connectivity is never an issue.

After school work is done for the day, we move on to FUN!
Students will enjoy activities such as, theatre games, outside time, musical theatre themed arts and crafts, and weekly musical watch parties!
Utilizing effective safety tools such as masks, floor-taping, pool noodles, socially-distanced games, and more, Upstart Crow staff ensure students have the quiet space and support necessary to engage in schoolwork AND the opportunity to experience the life-enriching benefits of the performing arts. And, importantly, our Matinee programming enables parents to focus on their own workplace and home obligations, confident that their children are safe, supported, and engaged throughout the school day.
- Students must provide their own devices AND headphones.
- All students must wear headphones when playing audio on their device.
- Parents must provide a lunch, snack, and water bottle.*
*Students will have the opportunity to purchase snacks from our Snack Shack, a fundraiser benefiting the UCS Tuition Assistance Fund. This season, our Snack Shack will be cash-less. Any student Snack Shack funds should be deposited in advance to the students’s Snack Shack account, available HERE.
Full Day (8 hours)/Full Week Cost: $200
MON-FRI 8:00AM-4:00PM (8 hours) Includes both morning Matinee and afternoon Theatre Camp
Half Day (4 hours)/Full week Cost $120
MON-FRI 8AM-12PM Matinee OR 12PM to 4PM Theatre Camp
After care available (1 hour) $10 day

10:00-10:15 Snacktime with handwashing before and after
10:15-11:45 Academic Support (Or quiet time if done with work)
11:45-12:00 Handwashing
12:00 Check in & out for ½ day campers
12:00-12:30 Lunch with handwashing after
12:30-1:30 Socially-distanced improv, theatre design, or rehearsal, etc.
1:30-2:15 Craft
2:15-2:30 Snack with handwashing before and after
2:30-3:00 Theatre Games!
3:00-4:00 Physical Activity (Getting our heartrate going! All we aim to do in this block is get your student moving in fun and innovative ways - outside weather permitting!)
